CUT-OFF DISCS
Cut-off wheels or abrasive saws are used to cut
or severe materials to prescribed dimensions.
Cut-off wheels compete with the shear, .the saw
and flame cutting. These wheels are available
with or without reinforcing; the need for
reinforcing depends upon the severity of the
operation.
Cut-off (Non-Reinforced)
Non- reinforced cut-off wheels are designed for
machines where the work is securely clamped, the
wheel adequately guarded and the machine design
is such that the wheel operates in a controlled
cutting plane.
Cut-off (Reinforced)
Cut-off wheels containing a strengthening fabric
or filaments incorporated throughout the entire
diameter are referred to as "Reinforced wheels"
Reinforced wheels are designed to resist
breakage caused by severe cross bending. All
portable cut-off, swing frame, locked head push
through, and foundry chop stroke operations
require reinforced cut-off wheels. In addition,
a reinforced cut-off wheel is required on any
operation where the grinding machine is hand
guided or where the work is not securely clamped.
Wheels are straight configuration with diameters
usually ranging form 75mm to 500mm. The wheel
thickness is determined by grit size,
construction and wheel diameter; however,
maximum thickness is less than 6mm.

GRINDING WHEELS
A well equipped tool room maintains a selected
assortment of Karbosan wheels to handle routine
jobs for sherpening tools, manufacturing tools,
repairing tools. Also, most tool rooms have
sufficient versatility and equipment to handle
short production runs as well as maintenance
operations. Karbosan wheels are available at an
economical cost and are specifically designed to
meet the wide variety of miscellaneous grinding
operations performed in tool rooms.
Grinding Wheels Products
GENERAL PURPOSE GRINDING WHEELS
Karbosan General Purpose Wheels are available in
a variety of sizes and specifications to meet
requirements for surface, cylindrical, off-hand,
and tool room operations. They are used on bench,
pedestal and low speed portable grinding
machines.
CARBIDE TOOL SHARPENING SCG 80 J5 V
Karbosan Carbide Tool Sharpening Wheels are
manufactured for best performance and economy of
carbide tool maintenance. For best results,
sharpen cutters at the first signal and assure a
keen cutting edge.
CUTTER SHARPENING AND TOOL GRINDING EK 60 K6 V
The following Karbosan cutter sharpening wheels
are manufactured in a standard quality for
general purpose.
SAW SHARPENING
Saw sharpening wheels are primarily used for
sharpening and re-sharpening of various types of
saws principally in the timber and woodworking
industries as well as saw manufacturers.
SURFACE GRINDING EKR (GRIT) K6 VN
Saw sharpening wheels are primarily used for
sharpening and re-sharpening of various types of
saws principally in the timber and woodworking
industries as well as saw manufacturers.
CYLINDRICAL GRINDING
Cylindrical grinding may be considered to
include all outside grinding of round work even
though the finished product is not always a true
cylinder. Wheels in this class include those for
grinding work held between centres and in chucks.
It is necessary to use coarse grit wheels with
rough dressing or rapid stock removal, and fine
grit wheels with fine dressing for fine finishes.
CENTRELESS GRINDING
Grades H to P cover most of the range.
Cylindrical wheels are used extensively
throughout the automotive, aircraft,
shipbuilding, engine, turbine, metal working
machine industries as well as in general shops
and tool rooms. Maximum operating speed is 35
m/s.
ROUGH GRINDING(Snagging)
Rough grinding or snagging wheels are designed
to remove as much stock as possible, in the
shortest time at an economical cost.
FOUNDRY SNAGGING
Foundry snagging is a rough grinding application
in which unwanted metal on castings is removed.
Gates, risers, flashings, stubs, fins and
parting lines are commonly ground with foundry
snagging wheels. Since finish tolerances are not
usually critical, coarse, durable wheels are
used. Bench stand, pedestal, floor stand and
swing frame machines are the types of machines
used in foundry snagging.
DISC GRINDING
Disc grinders are machines that grind flat
surfaces and employ a bonded abrasive wheel, or
pair of wheels, called discs. These wheels are
available in various styles, often described as
inserted nut discs and plate mounted discs. Disc
wheels are mounted against steel machine plates
so that the grinding is performed on the flat
side of the disc.

FLAP DISCS
Karbosan flap discs have two types of fibreglass
base plates allowing various applications for
different industrial areas.
The straight design offers optimum grinding
capacity and very long life. They are
particularly suitable on surface grinding
because of straight arrangement of flaps. The
conical design allows users to work on curved,
lubricious and primed surfaces. They keep their
stability when used for edge grinding.
The normal life span of one flap disc is 20
times higher than a regular fibre disc as this
considerably reduces the downtime and increases
the productivity.
Usage of Karbosan Flap Discs
Zirconium Flap Discs: They provide optimal
cutting and a very good performance on steel,
alloy steel, non-ferrous material, cast iron,
wood and plastic.
Aluminium-Oxide Flap Discs: They are for surface
grinding of steel, cast iron and non-ferrous
metals. They are suitable for removal of lacquer
and primer and cleaning of weld-spots.
Advantages of Karbosan Flap Discs
• Long life
• Low Noise
• No vibration
• High efficiency
• Maximum utilization
• No burning of the piece
• No stumbling of the disc
• Suitable for various applications
• Less changing offers savings from labour cost
FIBRE DISCS
Fibre discs are produced from 115mm to 180 mm
diameter in different abrasive grit sizes and in
three abrasive types. They are preferred for
their flexibility and they provide better
surface quality. Widely used in automotive
industry, shipbuilding industry manufacturing of
steel doors etc., all types of metal tanks.
Abrasive grit size is specified in accordance
with desired surface quality.
A TYPE (NK) NORMAL KORUND:They are generally
used for surfacing, deburring of all metals and
leveling of steel edges. They provide very high
stock removal and long life.
C TYPE (SC) SILICON CARBIDE :Karbosan C type
fibre discs are particularly used in
construction industry, suitable for deburring of
all metals and edge sanding. They are also
applicable for non-ferrous materials.
ZR TYPE ZIRCONIA ALUMINA : Is mainly used on
alloyed and unalloyed steel, stainless steels
and high temperature non-ferrous metals.
MOUNTED FLAP WHEELS
Karbosan flap wheels are designed for high stock
removal due to the agresive abrasives used.
Karbosan flap wheels keep their flexibilty and
uniformity during use. Mainly used in mould
making, tank construction, grinding of valves
and fittings. Depending on the grit size
Karbosan Flap Wheels could be used to achieve
any desired surface finishes
